PostSubject: Tewksbury's wife?   Fri Aug 08, 2014 6:03 am

I was going to ask this on the other forums, but... they're frozen! Sad

Anyway, I can't seem to find any info on her.  One episode, Tewksbury mentions his wife, and there are no outside signs of them having issues.  The next episode, he's shacking up with Roz, with, as far as I know, his wife is never mentioned.

This always struck me as odd: with Frasier being such a stickler for morals, he seems entirely unfazed that his idol is cheating on or dropped his wife and hooked up with Roz in a pretty short time period (each season equals about a year realtime, right?).  Could Frasier's interference have been the straw that broke the camel's back when their night our was ruined?  I would have thought that would weigh on Dr. Crane!

Or am I just looking too far into a Saladin K. Patterson episode? Laughing

I think he mentions at some point that they're divorced, to Roz, if memory serves.

It's very strange, I was sure he mentioned being divorced, but I looked at the The Wizard and Roz transcript and can't find anything about it. The only thing he says that could mean he's divorced (or at least that his marriage isn't going well) is when Roz tells him about Niles and Daphne (who are having an argument) and he says, "Oh, well in that case, no matter who's right or wrong, he's wrong. I learned that from years of marriage."

I honestly went through the same thing. The first time I saw it, I didn't hear that line as implying divorce, but I thought it was mentioned later. But looking, it doesn't appear to have been.

I know I'm looking a bit too far into it (all sorts of things could happen when "the camera is off"; maybe we're just to believe it's common knowledge by this point), but at the same time, it does seem like something like that isn't typically glossed over in the Frasier world. They seemed to be pretty good about tying up loose ends or giving clarification when needed.

Yeah, I really don't think it would be difficult to write his divorce into the episode, just one sentence would do. It could be possible that they simply forgot - we all know there are a lot of plot holes in the show - but the fact still remains that we all thought we'd heard someone mention a divorce  Shocked .
